In order to produce goods, a production order is required. Production orders are similar to purchase orders in several ways. They both can be created from a job or from a list that shows all orders throughout the system.
A key difference is that for purchase orders, goods are received by creating a goods receipt directly from the list of orders, where a production order will need to receive outputs from an associated manufacturing job. Multiple purchase orders can be created for different suppliers at once – but since a production order will be created for internal production, only one can be created at a time.
For any customer job, a list of production orders is available from the Job Actions for that job. From this list, orders and the manufacturing jobs paired with those orders can be both viewed and created.
The job production order list for jobs keeps track of each order that has items designated for the current customer job. The list has columns for production order number, date, status, and the associated manufacture job.
Similarly, there exists a list under Reports which also shows production orders:
As with the list for jobs, production orders and the manufacture jobs paired to them can be viewed and created from this list. In addition, production orders can be filtered by status and searched.
From either the job production order list or the full production order list, clicking “New Order”.
If done from the job list, the production order will come pre-populated with all items from that job that have their supply source set as “Manufactured”. If done from the full production orders list, a blank production order will be prepared.
As with purchase orders, quantity can be modified to change the amounts set for stock and for the job (if a job is being ordered for).
When adding items, as with the item import from jobs, only items that are set with a “Manufactured” supply source will be able to be selected.
Once you’re happy with the items and their quantities, hit the “Create Production Order” button at the bottom of the screen.
You can view the included item details in a production order when you click on it from either list.
